Learning lines

From numerous projects in the past I have learnt some methods that help me to learn lines quickly and effectively. 

The first is a method where I write out all my cue lines and the character's name that says them, followed by my lines but with only the first letter of every word.

I have found that this gets me off book quickly and is much more helpful to be able to use these sheets that I make for myself in a rehearsal room.

I have written all my cues and lines out like this for every scene I am in within Table and already it is helping me to pick up the lines.

Acting Technique lessons

Understanding the whole play

In one of our sessions we went around in a circle trying to get through the whole play in scenes in chronological order but I was not very good at this. I knew the sequence of the scenes I am in very well but was not as sharp on the scenes I am not in, which I realised I needed to rectify. I have learnt that ensemble work is extremely important and just knowing which scenes I am in is not working towards making Table as good as it can be, so decided to create a document that I can refer to and boost my knowledge of the chronology of the play. I wrote the characters that are involved in the scene, their ages and the main point of the scene as well as colour coded each location that the play goes into so that Lichfield is yellow, Tanganyika is green, London is orange and Herefordshire is blue. I also put a star next to the scenes that I am in to make it easier for my personal reference. Click to enlarge the pictures below;
